The bar entrance is 1.5 miles from the North Sector (North Terminal, Ro-Ro Terminal: Liquid Bulk Terminal and Solid Bulk Terminal) and 4.5 miles from the South sector (South Terminal, High Sea Fishing Port and Specialised Unloading Fish Terminal).

The maritime access to the bar will be improved to -12 meters (C.D.) until 2009, which will permit the reception of vessels with higher capacity and dimensions, attracting regular lines of containers traffic or Ro-Ro cargo.
